In Memoriam

I wasn't really friends with George but I remember the first time I ever saw him. It was at the first concert I ever went to. My friend Kathy Poole and I went to see Donavan, your know the guy that sang Sunshine Superman and some other classics from the 60s, anyway somehow we ended up getting a ride home with George and Barry Fine ( I believe that's who it was) anyway I can't remember if it was a truck or van but I got in and he was the first thing I saw and he had that long hair and I thought he was so cool looking. Never saw him again until BA and he was walking down the hall and I saw his hair and thought hey that's that guy!! He still looked cool.

My dearest friend in high school. May you rest in peaceful slumber dear prince of a soul.

Who was cooler than George. Nobody. I loved everything about him. A true iconoclast. "If it's an icon, let it be clasted." Introduced me to Pink Floyd and Firesign Theater. We lost touch after BA but we were tight back in the day. He came strolling in Late to acting class one day. Grayce Clay said, "George. Why are you late?" He explained, "Because the bell rang before i got here." What is not to love!

Memories
So many great memories...but my favorite is of Mr. Davis' early morning class where he would have us remove everything from our desks except pen and paper and write down everything we heard...which wasn't much at first...then the cars, planes, trains, birds, janitor...I attribute him for my great listening skills...and another class where he would play albums...one in particular was Symphonius...jazzed up symphonies...his favorite was Tchaikovsky symphony #5 in E Minor....still love it to this day because of him...OH and his car we used to call a vacumn cleaner cause it looked like a Hoover! Can't WAIT to see my classmates again...with adult eyes!
